Step 1 - Registration:
The first step is to use this website to purchase the appropriate type of VIA Cristal service for your property. Once you have registered your property details you are immediately sent the VIA Cristal manual. This document contains a self assessment process and guidance to help the owner identify any risks that may not have already been addressed.
The manual acts as a checklist for the owner that once they have worked through it and completed all aspects it is possible to move onto the next stage.
Step 2 - The Certification Audit:
Once you have completed the self assessment process in the manual it is necessary for one of our consultants to visit the property and conduct a verification audit. If all aspects of safety have been addressed then the property will be approved for listing on www.checksafetyfirst.com and a certificate issued. Should any issues be identified that have not been appropriately covered then a corrective action plan will be issued for completion before a re-audit can be arranged.
The certification process is designed to support the property owner in achieving the standards required and get them as quickly as possible to a point where potential guests can be assured that their safety is protected.
The audit also gives our consultant an opportunity to identify any specific or unusual issues that may be impacting on your ability to ensure the safety of guests.
A property achieves certification when the consultant has verified that all aspects of the VIA Cristal standard have been met. Once this has occurred a certificate is then issued for the property. This certificate is valid for 12 months and is renewed by annual re-audits.
Properties issued with a valid certificate are entitled to use the VIA Cristal logo for marketing purposes.
Once the certification audit stage has been completed then it is possible to move on to the next stage.
Step 3 - Provide Marketing Information:
Once certified the next step is to create an entry for the property in the VIA Cristal area of www.checksafetyfirst.com . In this step you will be asked to provide additional details relevant to the marketing of the property, such as a description, booking details and up to 4 photographs. This information is then used by the VIA Cristal team to create an entry on the website.
Step 4 - Annual Renewal:
A lot can happen in a year when a property is being used continually, therefore it is necessary to review the status of the property on an annual basis.
VIA Cristal will contact you to arrange a renewal visit for a consultant to re-certify the property before the certificate expires. If during the audit issues are identified that need to be rectified then you will be issued with a report and timescales for completion. Should the issues not be rectified in the appropriate time then the certificate will be revoked until suitable evidence of completion can be verified.
